Carl L. Williams is a Houston playwright whose full-length and one-act plays have won numerous national playwriting competitions. Among them are the McLaren Memorial Comedy Playwriting Competition, the Robert J. Pickering Award, the Texas Nonprofit Theatres POPS! New Play Project, the Backdoor Theatre New Play Award, the Brevard New Play Competition, the Maxim Mazumdar Award, the Merce Award and many other first-place awards in festivals, such as the Dubuque Fine Arts Players’ One-Act Play Contest, the Camino Real Show Off!, Stormy Weather Players’ New Plays Festival, the Nantucket Short Play Festival and the Old Opera House’s New Voice Play Festival. His plays, both published and unpublished, have had more than 200 productions around the country, including off-off-Broadway, with several of the one-acts appearing in anthologies. Williams is a member of the Dramatists Guild of America.
