Mat Smart has written 27 full-length plays that have been produced
around the country and currently has several TV/film projects in development. An avid traveler
and baseball fan, he has been to all the states and all the current MLB
stadiums. He has also traveled to all seven continents and written a play set
on each one. The Royal Society of Antarctica, his play
about the three months he spent working as a janitor on a science base in
Antarctica, premiered at The Gift Theatre in Chicago and won the Jeff Award for Best New Work. Select
productions include The Agitators, his play about the true, untold
friendship between Susan B. Anthony and Frederick Douglass, has been produced
at more than 20 different theatres, including its premiere at Geva Theatre
Center. Eden Prairie, 1971 received a National New Play Network Rolling
World Premiere at Riverside Theatre, New Jersey Repertory Company and
Butterfly Effect Theatre of Colorado. Kill
