Synopsis

The greatest athlete the world had ever seen was Jesse Owens! He could run faster and jump farther than anybody else ever had, setting multiple world records. He demonstrated his brilliance in front of Adolf Hitler at the 1936 Olympics in Berlin, disproving the Nazi beliefs about the racial superiority of whites and fostering a deep friendship with the German track and field champion Luz Long. Starting as a poor impoverished sharecropper’s son who was chronically ill as a child, Jesse Owens overcame these hardships and excelled at sports, doing so with humility, a sense of human decency and goodwill toward others that made him an inspiration on and off the field. Run, Jesse, Run! is not only about his triumphs but also his struggles and mishaps, honestly displaying the process of becoming the epitome of what a champion should be as an athletic competitor and as a person of dignity, kindness and compassion.
