Synopsis

Are you looking for a contemporary script that will challenge your best actresses? The theatrical concept of this play is exciting. Seven members of the cast play Anne—as a young mother, as a woman of 40 returning to school, as a child, as a bride, and as a grandmother. But the 28 scenes do not proceed chronologically. Scenes between Anne and her family and friends cut across the decades, hopping backward and forward. Later, three pairs of Annes perform simultaneously. Finally, we experience the powerful and emotional impact of Anne at 87, encircled and sustained by her younger selves.

Customer Reviews

It was perfect for easing my students into the serious genre. It is also a humorous and emotional trip through the 20th century in the eyes of a relatable, dynamic character. Hayes has fabulously written the nuances of Anne, as well as creating masterful themes and effective scene mirroring. From the first read, I knew this was the perfect play for us, and I believe a wide variety of ages will enjoy Hayes' observative creation.
